Prize for thesis or research work concerning
the Portuguese securities markets
Yearly, the CMVM awards the José Luís Sapateiro prize which aims to distinguish an academic dissertation or other original research work that focuses on a topic of relevance and interest for the Portuguese capital market.
Created in November 2000 as the "CMVM Award", it is alternately awarded for legal and economic works which have been completed no later than in the year preceding the application and have not been previously published.
In 2016, in honour of the coordinator of the working group that drafted the first Securities Code, who passed away in June of that year, the award was renamed "José Luís Sapateiro Prize".
