Literacy on the Capital Markets in Portugal: Findings and Challenges

In the month of its 30th anniversary, the CMVM presents and debates the results of one of the most complete surveys ever conducted on specific literacy on the capital markets. The fieldwork was carried out in late 2020 and early 2021 during the pandemic context. The results will be an essential instrument in the design of a financial literacy programme proposal on the capital markets, within the scope of a CMVM initiative, financed and engaged by the European Commission, under EU funding of structural reforms in the Member States. The meeting brings together experts, regulators, policy makers and industry representatives to reflect on financial literacy in Portugal in the specific context of the capital markets. The President of the Republic will close the meeting, which will be followed by a closed session on financial literacy in Portugal.
