Portuguese Capital Markets Benchmarks
The PSI-20 Index closed at 5,233.86 points in April 2012. This corresponds to a 5.8% downswing since March and a 31.8% drop than the same period in 2011. The key issuers on the Index were Portugal Telecom (16.94%), Jerónimo Martins (16.49%) and EDP (15.91%).
The PSI 20's volatility amounted to 17.62% in April. This was above the 16.19% recorded for March and the 15.80% recorded in the same period in 2011.
The value of spot secondary market transactions amounted to €2,438.3 million. This is €431.9 million (-15.0%) less than March. The value amounted to €10,447.4 million in the first four months of the year which corresponds to 46.8% less than the same period last year.
The trading volume on the regulated market slumped 14.7% down to €2,414.1 million as against March. In Euronext Lisbon and Special Public Debt Market (MEDIP), the monthly trading volume fell 4.7%.
The market capitalization of Euronext Lisbon amounted to €176,999.4 million, reflecting €10,383.0 million (5.5%) less than in the previous month and 14.7% less when compared to the same period in 2011. There was a 3.8% growth since the beginning of the year.
The share sector was the main contributor to the slump in market capitalization of the regulated market of Euronext Lisbon, with a 12% monthly decline.
In the Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities and Special Investment Funds Industry, the amount under management rose 0.8% in March up to €11,311.1 million in comparison with the preceding month. The amount under management of Real Estate Investment Funds increased 0.2% up to €12,126.2 million as against January.
