The value of spot secondary market transactions amounted to EUR 1,972.6 million in October. This is EUR 750.4 million (27.6%) less than September and EUR 6,857.0 million (77.7%) less than the same period in 2010.

The trading volume on the regulated market of Euronext Lisbon fell 28% down to EUR 1,909.4 million in October as against EUR 2,652.7 million in the previous month. In the Special Public Debt Market (MEDIP), the trading volume dropped 48.1% in comparison to September down to EUR 283.0 million which is 95.2 less than in the same period last year.

The PSI 20's volatility was 26.92% in October. This was below the 34.87% recorded in September and the 11.56% recorded in October 2010.

The PSI-20 Index closed the month at 5,870.12 points, representing a 0.4% downswing when compared to September and 22.6% since the beginning of the year. Galp (20.05%), EDP (16.93%) and Jerónimo Martins (16.38%) were the key issuers in the Index.

The market capitalization of Euronext Lisbon amounted to EUR 172,027.7 million in October, reflecting EUR 6,418.4 million (3.6%) less than the previous month and 19.8% less when compared to the same period last year.

The bond sector was the leading contributor for the downturn in market capitalization of the regulated market of Euronext Lisbon, falling 10.6% down to EUR 60,241.7 million. On the other hand, the share sector rose 0.6% up to EUR 108,297.4 million as against September.

In the Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities and Special Investment Funds Industry, the amount under management slumped 5.8% in September down to EUR 11,067.8 million in comparison with the preceding month and 22.3% since the beginning of the year. The amount under management of Real Estate Investment Funds rose 0.2% up to EUR 11,980.2 million in September in comparison to the preceding month and 2.0% in the first eight months of the year.
