The value of spot secondary market transactions totalled € 2,723.1 million in September - less €126.8 million (4.4%) than in August and less €6,493.8 million (70.5%) than that of the equal period of the previous year.
The trading volume on the regulated market of Euronext Lisbon dropped 10.3% to €2,107.2 million in September as opposed to €2,349.1 million during the previous month. The monthly trading volume on the regulated debt market (MEDIP) increased 27.3% apropos August, to €545.5 million albeit 91% less than during the identical period in 2010.
The PSI 20's volatility rose to 35.57% in September. This figure was up from 30.98% recorded in August and more than trippled the amount that was registered during the same period of the previous year.
The PSI-20 Index closed the month at 5,965.93 points. This reflects an 5.6% decrease when compared to August and 21.4% drop since the beginning of the year. The key issuers on the Index were Galp (18.32%), EDP (17.09%) and Jerónimo Martins (15.34%).
The market capitalisation of Euronext Lisbon was €178,446.2 million in September 2011, reflecting €17,449.6 million (8.9%) less than in the previous month and 14.6% less when compared to the same period last year.
Both the bonds and shares sectors contributed towards the drop in the market capitalisation of the regulated market of Euronext Lisbon by reflecting a drop of 15.9% and 4.3%, respectively.
In the Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities and Special Investment Funds Industry, the amount under management dropped 5.2% in August down to €11,745.9 million compared with the preceding month and 17.5% since the beginning of the year. The amount under management of Real Estate Investment Funds fell 0.2% in August from the preceding month and 2.1% during the first eight months of the year down to €11,957.3 million.
