The market capitalization of Euronext Lisbon amounted to EUR 193,223.5 million in December 2010. This was 0.03% less than the preceding month and 5.4% less than the same period in 2009.

The bond segment contributed greatly to this downtrend with a 10.7% drop in comparison to the previous month down to EUR 55,565 million in the regulated market. The stockmarket value of bonds soared 86.8% in 2010.

Market capitalization of the share segment rose 5.2% since November up to EUR 134,933.2 million and fell 21.7% since the beginning of the year.   

The value of spot secondary market transactions fell 47.1% down to EUR 3,880 million in December. This reflected a drop in the public debt market transactions (MEDIP). In 2010, the value of transactions tumbled 1.3% when compared to 2009.

The PSI-20 Index closed at 7,588.31 points in December, corresponding to a 3.6% increase since November and reducing accumulated losses since the beginning of the year down to 10.3%. Portugal Telecom (16.74%), Galp Energia (15.26%) and EDP (13.64%) were the issuers with the largest representation in the Index.

The volatility of the PSI-20 was 16.08% in December, up from 14.50% established in the previous month and 13.95% in December 2009. 2010 was more volatile (23.29%) than 2009 (18.43%).

In the Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities and Special Investment Funds Industry, the amount under management fell 3.1% in November down to EUR 14,611.2 million in comparison with the preceding month. The amount under management in the Real Estate Investment Funds and the Special Real Estate Investment Funds slipped 0.1% down to EUR 12,349.8 million.
